Too much to talk about!

Let's see what we've missed over the past month and a half that I've failed to blog...a whole lot of football, leaves, Halloween, Thanksgiving, more football and Kayla's little voice coming to life! Kayla's first consistent words other than the typical mama, dada, no, were 'all done' and 'uh oh'. Then she moved onto repeating everything we were saying and her vocabulary has just been expanding exponentially ever since. Her current favorites (and very cutely so)being Touchdown (followed by throwing both arms emphatically into the air and cracking up at herself), Football, Hot Cocoa, Elmo and Milk....probably in that order. She also has become a kissing machine over the past few months...she loves kissing everything from her bath toys to every dog in our neighborhood...pretty much anything and anyone that comes her way. She's such a little lovey. And although she's been a dancing queen for many months now, she now enjoys dancing on any raised platform that she climbs her way up onto (should we be worried :-)

Kayla = Cali girl!!

What a fantastic time we had in California visiting my grandparents (Kayla's great-grandparents)! Kayla is at such a fun age right now.. She fell in love with Gramie and Grandad and they with her. She did not hold any kisses back from Gramie...I think Gramie received more kisses in a weekend then the rest of us have gotten in her whole existence. And she enjoyed her time with Grandad and Cody (their puppy) so much...she loved sitting on his lap and by the end of the trip was clinging to his leg like she does mine when she's uncertain about something. We went to the park, went shopping at Stanford, had a great lunch out at Cali Cafe, visited the children's library, took walks and enjoyed the absolutely beautiful weather!!! And Kayla also got to meet her Uncle Marcus and her cousins Amanda, Jacob and Jordan. It was nice having mom to assist in entertaining Kayla on our 5+ hour flight as that's not the easiest job...especially when you have a baby girl who is into everything. She especially loved the flight out where mom (Gramie) let her ride naked in just her diaper the whole way! They just don't make those rows on the plane wide enough - I seriously don't know how anyone could travel with a toddler on their lap without forever scarring both themselves and their child - very important for both of us that she had her own seat! But all went well. Kayla is starting to run which sometimes - when chasing after things - she gets ahead of herself and falls on her face. In one weekend she got a busted lip (from falling over while trying to look under every dressing room to find her mommy), a bloody nose (from chasing after a ball on the way to the park and falling on her face) and a black eye (from tripping over her blanket while running after a friend at daycare). So needless to say - I hope this is just a passing trait and not a sign of things to come (i.e. her accident proneness of her father :-) There is nothing better than coming home to that little angel - her smiles, her hugs and her kisses - as well her attempts at telling us her thoughts and feelings - are what life is all about - I feel truly blessed! How did I get so lucky!

5 babies, 1 kid, 3 dogs, 8 parents...and a lake!

You would think chaos...but actually - it was pretty relaxing!! We invited some friends and their babes down to the lake for the weekend - Ryan and Chrisse, Shane and Shannon and Dustin and Kelly Ann. We had a fantastic time waterskiing and wakeboarding, playing corn hole, watching the kids run around, and taking ridiculous pictures of Shane passed out on the couch. The ladies even got to get away for a few hours on a "booze cruise" (according to Shane at least - it was actually only an hour and a half) while the men stayed back and watched the babes and cooked us dinner! It was beautful on the lake...a little cold in the evening but absolutely awesome. We got back to Kasey with chocoloate covering her entire face (Dustin had caved and given her a chocolate chip cookie...or 10), Kayla and Olivia were fighting over and bouncing Elle's papisan chair over and over again (Yes - Elle was in it...but Bryan and Shane were engrossed in cooking the food so...), and Liam was running through the house screaming. Ryan was sitting on the couch holding Clara. Everything was under control!! The men were making their best attempt at multi-tasking - grilling the dinner, watching football, and watching 6 kids at the same time is no easy task (welcome to the world of mommies)! It was good to give them a little taste :-) Word of the weekend = Tenders!

Flying High!!

Kayla took her first plane ride this weekend! We went to Texas to visit Bonnie, Jesse and their new baby Jacob. I was really nervous about how it would all go...especially since I was travelling alone with Kayla! But I was also really excited for her to experience flight and also to get to spend so much one-on-one time with her. She did absolutely wonderful on the way out...was really well behaved and there was even another little boy flying on the plane who came up to play with her for a little while!
We had a wonderful time seeing Bonnie and Jesse and meeting Jacob for the first time...he's such a sweet little baby!
We spent time at the Outlets and did some fall shopping for Kayla...Kayla especially loved the Disney store and the little park for kids there! Although - the highlight had to be when Kayla pooped all over herself and the entire Children's Place Store:-) She didn't even know it and was having so much fun watching the children's video in the children's corner that they had setup. ..crawling all over their chairs and couches. When she stood up I saw that she had stuff all over her back from her head to her toes. So I pulled her clothes off and in pure WT fashion walked her shirtless out of the store and down to the bathroom where she proceeded to march as happy as could be with no idea as to what the issue was - smiling at all who passed. After I got her all cleaned up and changes, Bonnie and I and the babes went off to meet Jesse at a really nice restaurant for lunch. They had just gotten us all setup with the two highchairs, etc. when we took our seat. Right then I hear Bonnie say uh oh as she looks at Kayla - so I look at Kayla - and Kayla starts projectile vomiting all over the table, chairs, floor, herself, etc. As she does so she is still smiling and starts playing in her vomit on the table, laughing! So I pull her out of her chair, strip her clothes off, rush her to the bathroom and rinse her off in the sink and wrap her in her blanket. We apologize to the restaurant as they're mopping up her vomit from the floor and cleaning it off the table - and tell them that we'll be taking her home. Needless to say - I don't know if it was the change in climate, altitude or what - but just another day in the wonderful world of mommy hood! We went home, I gave her a bath and she played and played the rest of the day as if nothing had happened!
We enjoyed the beautiful views...played...took a fun little walk around the neighborhood where we got to see scorpions and plants that we'd never seen before! ... and had a wonderful time in the pool! Although we all thought the pool was a little too cold, Kayla was the only one who had no problem with the temp...I think she could have stayed in there all day if we let her! Kayla gave baby Jacob some words of encouragement before he took his first ever swim in a pool!
He wasn't too sure about it at first but warmed up to it pretty quickly...especially since it was freezing!! I think he's going to be an adventurous one...yeh Bon Bon!! Happy mommy and baby!!Twinsies! Ha!  I wish I was as beautiful as my baby girl~!My little man! I miss your smiles and cuddles already Jacob Jordan!!! Can't wait to see you again!!
The flight home was not as perfect as the flight out...Since I woke Kayla up early she was not the happiest little person and was fairly cranky on the first flight. When we changed planes in Dallas her car seat didn't fit down the aisle so I attempted to check it...bad idea! I tried holding Kayla on my lap but 30 minutes later...as we had still not taken off... she was not having it. She started throwing a temper tantrum like no other. The flight attendant asked if there was anything she could do and I told her she could get Kayla's car seat! Which she did and after that - all was wonderful! So I would say overall - the trip was a success:-)
